These three formats consistently outperform the account average across revenue, engagement, and conversions. Use these as your default starting point for every campaign brief.

✦ The Sensory Hook

Lead with the physical experience of the product — texture, sensation, smell, softness. The subscriber should feel the product before they see the price. Best for any product where the feel is part of the appeal.

Why This Works

HYGR's products win on feel — the email should too

Most personal care brands compete on ingredients. HYGR's edge is texture and sensory payoff. Campaigns that lead with "mochi softness" or "thick, creamy, and soft all day" outperform those that lead with ingredients or concerns because they give subscribers a reason to desire the product before they need it. Sensory language bypasses rational hesitation and triggers aspiration.

Subject Line Formula

Sensory word + Product action
"Gentle cleanse, big hype."
"Do you like it moisturised?"
"Beet Dull Skin With This 😉"
The subject should make the reader feel something before they open.

Preview Text Formula

Reinforce the sensory promise in more detail.
"Cleanse without the tightness."
"Thick, creamy, and soft all day long."
"Smooths away dullness for softer skin."
No features, no ingredients, no benefits — just how it feels.

Email Body Structure

BLOCK 1
Hero image — full-width, close-up of product in use or on skin. Texture should be visible.
BLOCK 2
2–3 lines of sensory copy. No bullet points. Write like you're describing a feeling, not a product spec.
BLOCK 3
Single CTA button. "Shop Now", "Get Yours", or "Try It" — keep it short, no urgency language needed.

Do you like it moisturised?
Thick, creamy, and soft all day long. — Skincare Power Body Butter
RPR: RM0.096 Conv: 0.100% CTOR: 0.79%

✓ Do This

  • Describe the sensory experience in the first sentence
  • Use texturally vivid words: mochi, velvet, dewy, silky, feather-light
  • Show the product being applied or used — not just floating
  • Keep copy short — 2–3 sentences max before the CTA
  • Use conversational, warm tone ("you'll love how this feels")

✕ Avoid This

  • Leading with ingredients (HA, niacinamide, etc.) without sensory context
  • Product specs or percentages in the opening line
  • Multiple products in one email — dilutes the sensory focus
  • Clinical or formal tone ("formulated with...")
  • Long copy blocks before the CTA
Format 2 — Deep Dive

✦ The Myth Buster

Start by naming the exact fear or doubt your subscriber has about the product — then flip it. This format is the highest converter of the three because it talks to people who are almost convinced but not quite there yet.

Why This Works

Address the objection before the subscriber even voices it

The Myth Buster is the highest-converting format by conversion rate (0.14% avg vs 0.10% account avg), even though its click rate isn't always the highest. The reason: it reaches people who already want the product but haven't bought because of a specific hesitation. By addressing that hesitation in the subject line ("Still Scared of Facial Oils?", "Why buy two products when…?"), HYGR earns trust and removes the barrier to purchase. Most valuable for products with well-known hesitations — oily feeling, skin reactions, dual-use scepticism.

Subject Line Formula

Name the fear / doubt
"Still Scared of Facial Oils?"
"Why buy two products when Deo Perfume Spray does it all?"
"Did your deodorant just… stop working?"
"Your lips deserve better than dry lipstick"
The subject names the exact objection. The reader thinks "that's me" and opens.

Preview Text Formula

Hint at the resolution — don't reveal it yet.
"A quick lesson in non-greasy, non-pore-blocking hydration."
"It is perfume and deodorant."
"It's not you. It's your deo. Time to switch."
Creates enough curiosity to open without spoiling the twist.

Email Body Structure

BLOCK 1 · THE MYTH
Restate the fear clearly and validate it. "Most people think X." Make the subscriber feel understood.
BLOCK 2 · THE FLIP
2–3 lines that reframe the truth. Why their fear doesn't apply to this product. Use 1 supporting fact or real result.
BLOCK 3 · THE PROOF
Product visual (ideally a before/after, comparison, or in-use shot). Then a single CTA.
💡 Layout note: This format can handle slightly more copy than the Sensory Hook — 4–5 short lines is fine. The reader is in a learning mindset so they'll read. But don't go over 6 lines before the CTA or you lose them.

Gentle Doesn't Mean Weak
— Gentle Doesn't Mean Weak
RPR: RM0.074 Open: 52.2% CTOR: 0.66%

✓ Do This

  • Name the exact fear in the subject line — be specific, not generic
  • Validate the hesitation before flipping it (don't be dismissive)
  • Use one concrete proof point: a fact, a skin-type match, or a real result
  • Pair with a product that actually has a known hesitation barrier
  • Keep the myth simple enough to resolve in 3 lines

✕ Avoid This

  • Using a vague fear ("most people don't know…") — be specific
  • Trying to bust more than one myth per email
  • Using this for products with no obvious hesitation (wastes the format)
  • Dismissing the fear instead of validating it first
  • Getting too scientific — keep the "flip" in plain language
Format 3 — Deep Dive

✦ The Announcement

New product, restock, or real-world event. The "first to know" feeling drives HYGR's highest click-through rates. The key is to give subscribers something to act on immediately — not just browse.

Why This Works

Subscribers buy what feels new, first, or limited

The Announcement format gets HYGR's highest CTORs because it gives people a reason to act right now. New launches average 0.92% CTOR vs 0.57% account average. The community event (DahHalal RSVP) hit RM0.228 revenue per recipient — the single best campaign of the 90-day period. Even restocks perform above average because "it's back" implies it might go again. The critical rule: the email must have a single, time-sensitive action. The moment there are two options, urgency dilutes.

Subject Line Formula

Three proven patterns:
Direct: "NEW: Tinted Sunscreen Has Arrived"
Scarcity: "You waited. We restocked. 🏃‍♀️💨"
Exclusive: "You're invited: DahHalal Event @ HYGR HQ"
Make the novelty obvious in the first 3 words. Don't make them guess what's new.

Preview Text Formula

Add the benefit or the urgency hook:
"Protection that also perfects"
"The Deodorant Roll-On is back. Grab yours."
"Save your spot for a full day of treats! RSVP here."
"Get exclusive 10% OFF here!"

Email Body Structure

BLOCK 1 · THE REVEAL
Clean hero image of the new/returning product. "NEW" or "BACK" badge optional. No visual clutter.
BLOCK 2 · THE HOOK
1–2 lines max. Either the key benefit or the urgency ("limited stock", "early bird ends [date]"). No long copy.
BLOCK 3 · ONE CTA
Single, specific CTA: "Shop Now", "RSVP Here", "Get Early Access". One button only — no secondary links above the fold.
💡 Key rule: This is HYGR's most minimalist format by design. The less copy between the image and the CTA, the better. The "new" or "back" signal does the selling — the email just needs to get out of the way.

The Deodorant Roll-On is finally back. Grab yours before it's gone again.
RPR: RM0.102 CTOR: 0.85% Unsub: 0.16% Revenue: RM4,386

✓ Do This

  • Put "NEW" or "BACK" in the first 2 words of the subject
  • Use a single, focused CTA — one product, one action
  • Add a real urgency signal when possible (early bird, limited stock)
  • Keep copy minimal — the newness does the work
  • Plan community/event emails months ahead — they outperform everything

✕ Avoid This

  • Announcing a product without a direct purchase link
  • Adding 3–4 products to a "new arrivals" roundup — it dilutes urgency
  • Fake scarcity ("limited time" without a real deadline)
  • Burying the "new" in the middle of the subject line
  • Heavy copy before the CTA — lose the minimalist structure
What to Avoid

Formats That Consistently Underperform

Two patterns reliably fall below HYGR's account average. Knowing what to avoid is as important as knowing what works.

Weak Format A
The Skin Concern Single-Out
Emails that lead with a very specific skin type or concern sent to the full engaged list (e.g. "Sensitive Skin", "Oily Skin Saviour", "Weak Hair Roots").
Why it underperforms: Only a fraction of a 40K general list has that specific concern. The rest feel it's not for them — and unsub or ignore.

Low performers: Oily Skin Saviour (RPR RM0.036), Sensitive Skin Deo (Unsub 0.24%, Click 0.14%), Hair Oiling (RPR RM0.067).

Fix: Use skin-concern angles only on segmented lists (e.g. people who browsed/bought products for that concern), not the full engaged list.
Weak Format B
The Lifestyle Vague
Emails that describe an experience without grounding it in the product (e.g. "A Better Shower Experience", "Freshen up, wherever!").
Why it underperforms: The lifestyle promise is too abstract — subscribers can't connect the feeling to the product without more context. They open but don't click.

Low performers: Better Shower Experience (RPR RM0.084, CTOR 0.49%), On The Go Deo (RPR RM0.090, CTOR 0.53%).

Fix: Anchor the lifestyle with a specific sensory detail — "A Better Shower Experience" becomes "The body wash that doesn't leave your skin squeaky" (crosses into Format 1).
Quick Reference

Which Format Should I Use?

Use this guide when starting a new campaign brief to pick the right format for the product and context.

Is this a new or returning product?

New launch, back-in-stock, early bird access, or a community event.

→ Use Format 3: The Announcement

Does this product have a common hesitation?

A fear, misconception, or "not for me" belief that's stopping purchase. E.g. "face oil will make my skin oily", "2-in-1 sounds gimmicky".

→ Use Format 2: The Myth Buster

Does this product have a distinctive feel or texture?

Body care, cleansers, deodorants, anything where the physical experience is part of the value. (Most HYGR products qualify.)

→ Use Format 1: The Sensory Hook

Is this a niche skin-concern send?

Targeting a specific concern like oily skin, sensitive skin, or hair care.

⚠ Segment the list first, then use Format 1 or 2

Sending to the full 40K list with no new product?

Standard "mid-week" newsletter or routine product send.

→ Default to Format 1: The Sensory Hook

Is there a seasonal peg (Raya, CNY, sale)?

Occasion-tied campaigns can borrow from both Format 2 (bust the "I can skip SPF" belief) or Format 3 (exclusive sale announcement).

→ Use Format 3 with seasonal hook in subject
